Free written estimates
We are happy to walk the property with you and put the whole job in writing, at no charge, covering surfaces, preparation, products and price.
Interior painting
The interior service covers:
- minor drywall repairs
- wallpaper removal
- surface preparation and priming
- walls and ceilings
- baseboards, crown molding, wainscoting, window trim, door trim and doors, brushed or sprayed
- off-site spraying for doors and larger millwork
- color consultation and interior color scheme matching
We look at the light in the room and at what stays, floors, counters and cabinetry, before anyone opens a fan deck, then match or build the scheme from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore and Farrow and Ball. Doors, wood ceilings and trim that should read as furniture get Fine Paints of Europe enamel.
Houses built before 1978 get a lead test before any sanding, as the EPA requires of a certified firm.
Exterior painting in Redmond
Rotted trim or siding is repaired before the first coat. The exterior service covers:
- pressure washing
- lead testing
- surface preparation for paint adhesion
- siding, trim, soffits, shutters and exterior doors
- solid, semi-solid and semi-transparent stains on decks and fences
- varnish or clear coat on exterior doors, shutters and other exterior wood
Decks and fences get a stain rather than a paint, in the opacity that suits the wood and its exposure.
Why we sometimes ask you to wait a week
Most exterior acrylics can go on in cool air. Sherwin-Williams rates its Duration, SuperPaint, Emerald, Resilience and A-100 lines down to 35F. The limit that matters is the two days after application. The new film has to stay above the dew point for about 48 hours while it coalesces. If dew reaches a coat that has not finished forming, moisture works into it and pulls ingredients to the surface as it dries again. That shows up later as staining or weak adhesion. None of it is visible on the day, so the paint gets blamed.
Commercial painting
We paint commercial interiors and exteriors in Overlake, downtown Redmond and along the Willows corridor. The commercial service covers:
- interiors for warehouses, retail stores, offices, restaurants and museums
- exteriors for storefronts and multi-story buildings
- wood siding, stucco and metal surfaces
- accent walls
Whether the space stays in use decides the plan. If it stays occupied, we work in phases, protect it daily and return each room when the session ends. Empty units we spray straight through. We settle that at the walkthrough and put it in the estimate.
Cabinet painting: kitchens and built-ins
Cabinet painting changes a kitchen without moving the boxes, the counters or the plumbing. The cabinet service covers:
- painting existing cabinets
- painting new cabinets
- refinishing oak, maple, cherry, alder and other cabinet woods
- off-site spraying and refinishing
- high-gloss application
Bathroom vanities and built-in bookcases get the same treatment.
Two-part coatings, and why we use them
The doors and drawer fronts come off and go to our shop. The boxes are masked and sprayed in place. Everything gets Milesi or Renner two-component polyurethane. Wall paint simply dries. These coatings are mixed with a catalyst and cure by a chemical reaction, so the finished film is much harder and resists scuffs, grease and cleaners. Mixed material lasts hours, not days, so we size each batch to the day's spraying.
Specialty finishes
Decide on any plaster finish before the repaint is scheduled. Walls that take Roman clay or limewash are prepared differently from walls that take paint, so the choice changes the order of the work.
Limewash
A mineral finish for masonry and plaster.
Roman clay
Troweled on for a matte, slightly irregular surface.
Tadelakt
A lime plaster used in showers and other wet areas.
Venetian plaster
Burnished to a polished finish with visible depth.
We also do microcement, French wash and high-gloss enamel on doors and millwork. Every one of these finishes is applied by hand and no two come out the same, so ask for a sample before you commit a room.

Redmond painting FAQs
Do you serve Redmond, Washington or Redmond, Oregon?
Redmond, Washington, in King County. We are based in Seattle and do not travel to Oregon.
Is color consultation included?
Yes. Color consultation and color scheme matching are part of the interior service.
When is it too cold or too damp to paint an exterior?
Temperature on the day is rarely the problem. Most exterior acrylics go on down to 35F. The constraint is the 48 hours afterward, when the surface has to stay above the dew point while the film forms. If the forecast cannot promise that, we move the date.
Do you paint fences and decks?
Yes. We use penetrating or film-forming stains chosen for the wood and its exposure, or a solid color where the fence should look painted.
Can you paint the exterior of a commercial building?
Yes. Storefronts, multi-story buildings, wood siding, stucco and metal, scheduled around your operating hours.
How long does a mixed two-part cabinet coating last in the can?
Hours. Once the resin and the catalyst are combined the reaction has started, so we spray the batch that day or discard it.
Do you give written estimates?
Always. The estimate lists the surfaces, the preparation and the products before any work starts.
How to check a painting contractor before you sign
Before you hire anyone, including us, check the registration. Washington contractors register with L&I, and you can look up registration status, bond, workers' compensation and any legal actions at Lni.wa.gov/Verify.
Paintzone is on that register as a construction contractor, license number PAINTL*811QD, Washington UBI 604 513 060.
The EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule covers housing built before 1978, and anyone paid to disturb paint on those properties has to work for a certified firm. Paintzone is certified to work with lead paint.
