Paintzone is a locally owned painting company based in Seattle, and Kirkland is one of the Eastside cities we work in most, from Juanita, Rose Hill and Totem Lake to Houghton, Norkirk, Finn Hill, Bridle Trails, Kingsgate and downtown. We repaint interiors and exteriors, refinish kitchen cabinets, paint commercial buildings, and apply limewash and plaster finishes with our own crew.

Free written estimates
We are happy to walk the property with you and put the whole job in writing, at no charge, covering surfaces, preparation, products and price.
Interior painting
The interior service covers:
- minor drywall repairs
- wallpaper removal
- surface preparation and priming
- walls and ceilings
- baseboards, crown molding, wainscoting, window trim, door trim and doors, brushed or sprayed
- off-site spraying for doors and larger millwork
- color consultation and interior color scheme matching
Walls get Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams or Farrow and Ball. Doors and trim that should look like furniture get Fine Paints of Europe enamel, brushed on site or sprayed in our shop.
If your house was built before 1978, we test for lead before anyone sands. Federal rules require a certified firm for that work, and Paintzone is one.
Exterior painting
The exterior service covers:
- pressure washing
- lead testing
- surface preparation for paint adhesion
- siding, trim, soffits, shutters and exterior doors
- solid, semi-solid and semi-transparent stains on decks and fences
- varnish or clear coat on exterior doors, shutters and other exterior wood
Siding, trim and doors get Sherwin-Williams exterior acrylics. Decks and fences get a stain chosen for how much sun and water they see. We also stain brick. Unlike paint, stain colors the masonry without putting a film over it, so the brick keeps its texture.
Where a sill has gone soft or a trim board has split, we replace it before priming.
Commercial painting in Kirkland, WA
We paint commercial buildings across Kirkland, from offices along the 405 corridor to storefronts in Totem Lake and downtown, restaurants, clinics and warehouses. The commercial service covers:
- interiors for warehouses, retail stores, offices, restaurants and museums
- exteriors for storefronts and multi-story buildings
- wood siding, stucco and metal surfaces
- accent walls
Occupancy decides the plan. If the office stays open, we work in phases, put protection up and take it down each day, and hand rooms back at the end of every shift on your hours. A unit between tenants can be sprayed straight through, which is a smaller job. We paint corridors and stairwells in halves so an exit stays open. Tell us at the walkthrough which case yours is and the estimate will match it.
Cabinet painting: kitchens and built-ins
A cabinet repaint keeps the boxes and changes everything you see. The cabinet service covers:
- painting existing cabinets
- painting new cabinets
- refinishing oak, maple, cherry, alder and other cabinet woods
- off-site spraying and refinishing
- high-gloss application
We finish doors and drawer fronts in our shop and spray the boxes in place. Vanities, built-ins and furniture get the same treatment.
Why cabinet doors get a harder coating than walls
Cabinet doors get handled, wiped, knocked and splashed every day, and wall paint is not built for that. It dries as its water evaporates and the film stays soft. We spray Milesi and Renner two-component polyurethanes instead. A resin and a catalyst are mixed right before spraying and cure by cross-linking, a chemical reaction rather than evaporation. The finish is harder, stands up to scrubbing and kitchen chemicals, and does not soften in humidity. Once mixed, the coating has a pot life, so we use each batch the same day.
Specialty finishes
Our crew handles both standard painting and specialty finishes, so limewash or plaster can be part of the plan from the first walkthrough.
Limewash
A mineral finish for masonry and plaster.
Roman clay
Troweled on for a matte, slightly irregular surface.
Tadelakt
A lime plaster used in showers and other wet areas.
Venetian plaster
Burnished to a polished finish with visible depth.
We also do microcement, French wash and high-gloss enamel on doors and millwork. Every one of these finishes is applied by hand and no two come out the same, so ask for a sample before you commit a room.

Kirkland painting FAQs
Do you take commercial painting jobs in Kirkland?
Yes. Offices, retail, restaurants, clinics, warehouses and the common areas of multi-tenant buildings, inside and out. We schedule in phases or after hours when the space stays in use.
Can you paint just the trim and doors?
Yes. When the walls are fine we often do trim, doors and cabinetry on their own. Fine Paints of Europe enamel is the usual choice when they should read as furniture, and doors can be sprayed in our shop.
Can you stain my brick instead of painting it?
Yes. Stain colors the masonry and keeps the texture and breathability of the brick. Paint puts a film on top.
What is the difference between the finish on my cabinets and the one on my walls?
Wall paint dries by evaporation and stays soft enough to mark. The Milesi and Renner coatings we spray on cabinets cure through a reaction between resin and catalyst. The film is harder and takes daily handling and cleaning.
Will my older house need lead-safe practices?
If it was built before 1978, yes. Paintzone holds the EPA Lead-Safe firm certification. We test first. If lead is present, we contain the work area and dispose of the debris the way the rule requires.
Do you paint condos and townhomes?
Yes. Tell us about building rules and access hours when you ask for the estimate and we build them into the schedule.
How do you quote a job?
In writing, after a walkthrough. The estimate lists the surfaces, the preparation, the products and the price, so you can compare it line by line with other bids.
How to check a painting contractor before you sign
Before you hire anyone, including us, check the registration. Washington contractors register with L&I, and you can look up registration status, bond, workers' compensation and any legal actions at Lni.wa.gov/Verify.
Paintzone is on that register as a construction contractor, license number PAINTL*811QD, Washington UBI 604 513 060.
The EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule covers housing built before 1978, and anyone paid to disturb paint on those properties has to work for a certified firm. Paintzone is certified to work with lead paint.
