Sherwin-Williams or Benjamin Moore goes on walls and ceilings. Millwork and doors that should have a furniture-grade finish get Fine Paints of Europe enamel.

The exterior service covers:

- lead testing
- surface preparation for paint adhesion
- siding, trim, soffits, shutters and exterior doors

- varnish or clear coat on exterior doors, shutters and other exterior wood
A shaded deck and the case for oil
Decks under trees dry slowly, and a film-forming stain on wood that stays damp will blister and lift. Oil stains work differently. Armstrong Clark, the one we use, penetrates the wood and protects from inside the fibers. It wears thin gradually instead of peeling, and a tired deck comes back with a light recoat over the worn areas rather than a full strip. Siding is another matter. There an acrylic film that flexes with the boards and resists mildew is the right choice, which is why one house often gets two products.
Commercial and office building painting in Newcastle, WA
We paint office buildings, retail units, restaurants and warehouses as well as houses, inside and out. The commercial service covers:
- interiors for warehouses, retail stores, offices, restaurants and museums
- exteriors for storefronts and multi-story buildings
- wood siding, stucco and metal surfaces
- accent walls
When an office stays open we work in phases. Protection goes up each morning and comes down each evening, we return rooms after every session, and the hours match yours. An empty unit gets sprayed end to end. Corridors and stairwells get done one side at a time so an exit stays open. Say at the walkthrough whether the building will be in use.
Cabinet painting: kitchens and built-ins
Repainting the cabinets changes a kitchen without replacing the boxes. It suits kitchens where the layout works and only the finish has dated. The cabinet service covers:
- painting existing cabinets
- painting new cabinets
- refinishing oak, maple, cherry, alder and other cabinet woods
- off-site spraying and refinishing
- high-gloss application
Existing and new cabinets alike get Milesi or Renner two-component coatings. The doors and drawer fronts are sprayed at our shop, the boxes where they hang. The coating cures by a chemical reaction rather than by drying, so it ends up harder than any wall paint, which is what a cabinet door needs. It suits vanities and built-ins as much as kitchens.
Specialty finishes
Bring a photo of the room and tell us the look you want, and we will say which finish gets there and what the wall needs first.
Limewash
A mineral finish for masonry and plaster.
Roman clay
Troweled on for a matte, slightly irregular surface.
Tadelakt
A lime plaster used in showers and other wet areas.
Venetian plaster
Burnished to a polished finish with visible depth.
We also do microcement, French wash and high-gloss enamel on doors and millwork. Every one of these finishes is applied by hand and no two come out the same, so ask for a sample before you commit a room.

Newcastle painting FAQs
Is it Newcastle or New Castle?
The city between Bellevue and Renton is Newcastle, one word. If you searched for a New Castle painting contractor and landed here, you are in the right place.
Which Newcastle do you serve?
Newcastle, Washington, in King County. Not the one in England or the one in New South Wales. Our shop is at 600 W Olympic Pl #503 in Seattle.
Do you paint office buildings in Newcastle?
Yes, interior and exterior, phased around tenants when the building stays occupied. Ask us about apartment and HOA common areas.
My shaded deck peels every couple of years. What would you use?
A penetrating oil. It soaks into wood that stays damp instead of forming a skin that lifts. When it wears, you recoat the thin spots rather than stripping the whole deck.
Does a newer house still need lead-safe work?
Only if it was built before 1978. We test rather than assume, and contain the area if lead is present.
Do you repair wood rot before painting?
Yes. Rot repair and other carpentry happen before primer. Paint over soft wood does not last.
How to check a painting contractor before you sign
Before you hire anyone, including us, check the registration. Washington contractors register with L&I, and you can look up registration status, bond, workers' compensation and any legal actions at Lni.wa.gov/Verify.
Paintzone is on that register as a construction contractor, license number PAINTL*811QD, Washington UBI 604 513 060.
The EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting rule covers housing built before 1978, and anyone paid to disturb paint on those properties has to work for a certified firm. Paintzone is certified to work with lead paint.
